Property Compliance Victoria supports Victorians to meet rental minimum standards.

Website redesign to improve clarity, accessibility, and support compliance-focused user journeys.

Project scope & Objectives

This project focused on supporting homeowners and property managers in understanding and implementing rental minimum standards.

The objective was to redesign the Property Compliance Victoria website to improve clarity, streamline navigation, and create a more accessible and intuitive experience across key content areas.

The platform also needed to support a range of scheduled marketing campaigns, including email, paid search, and social media, while remaining easy to manage and update over time.

Step 1.

Research & Analysis

Research and analysis were conducted to understand how users interacted with compliance-related content and where confusion or friction occurred.

This included reviewing existing site performance, analysing user behaviour, and identifying gaps in content structure and information hierarchy.

Insights from this phase informed UX decisions aimed at improving comprehension, navigation, and overall usability.

Step 2.

Wireframing

Low-fidelity wireframes were developed to define page structure, navigation patterns, and content hierarchy.

The focus was on simplifying complex information, reducing cognitive load, and ensuring users could quickly locate relevant guidance based on their needs.

Wireframes were reviewed collaboratively to ensure alignment with project objectives prior to visual design.

Step 3.

Design Mock-ups

High-fidelity design mock-ups were created to translate the approved wireframes into a clear and approachable visual language.

The design prioritised accessibility, legibility, and consistency, ensuring information-heavy content remained easy to scan and understand.

Visual decisions were guided by usability and clarity rather than decoration.

Step 4.

Integration & Testing

Once designs were finalised, they were prepared for development and tested across devices and screen sizes.

Testing focused on ensuring consistent behaviour, clear interactions, and accessibility across desktop and mobile environments, as well as identifying and resolving potential usability issues prior to launch.

Outcome

The redesigned Property Compliance Victoria website delivered a clearer, more accessible user experience aligned with its compliance-focused purpose.

Key outcomes included:

  • Improved clarity of content and guidance for homeowners and property managers
  • Streamlined navigation supporting faster access to relevant information
  • A scalable platform capable of supporting ongoing marketing activity and content updates
  • Continued collaboration with Web Force 5 to support ongoing optimisation and maintenance

Conclusion

This project demonstrates a considered, user-centred approach to designing information-heavy digital platforms.

By prioritising clarity, accessibility, and ease of use, the redesigned Property Compliance Victoria website supports users in understanding and meeting rental minimum standards while providing a flexible foundation for ongoing communication and growth.
