The Silk Initiative is an award-winning brand consultancy based in China.

The Silk Initiative partners with global brands to deliver strategy, design, and digital experiences across international markets.

This project focused on redesigning their website to better reflect the consultancy’s positioning, clarify service offerings, and support engagement across a diverse, global audience.

Objective

The primary objective was to create a digital presence that accurately represented The Silk Initiative’s strategic and creative capabilities while remaining clear, approachable, and easy to navigate.

The website needed to support brand storytelling, articulate services clearly, and function effectively across devices and regions.

Methodology

The project kicked off with a comprehensive analysis of The Silk Initiative’s existing website on Wix, identifying pain points and limitations. The decision to migrate to WordPress was based on the platform’s reputation for flexibility, scalability, and extensive customisation options. The Elementor page builder was chosen for its user-friendly interface and ability to create visually stunning layouts without coding.

Step 1.

Research & Analysis

Research and analysis were conducted to understand audience expectations, content priorities, and how users engaged with consultancy-led digital experiences.

This phase focused on identifying opportunities to improve content structure, navigation clarity, and the presentation of strategic services without overwhelming the user.

Step 2.

Wireframing

Wireframes were developed to define page structure, content hierarchy, and key user flows.

The focus was on guiding users through the consultancy’s offering in a clear and logical manner while supporting both high-level scanning and deeper exploration of services.

Step 3.

Design Mock-ups

High-fidelity design mock-ups translated the wireframes into a distinctive visual language aligned with The Silk Initiative’s brand identity.

The design balanced clarity with character, using considered typography, spacing, and colour to support brand expression while maintaining usability.

Step 4.

Integration & Testing

Interactions were designed to feel refined and purposeful, enhancing engagement without unnecessary complexity.

The site was tested across devices to ensure consistent behaviour, responsiveness, and accessibility for an international audience.
